Iran Provides Solar Power To 10,000 Nomadic Families

The Iranian Electricity Generation, Distribution and Transmission Company provides solar power to 10,000 nomadic households. The number of rural electricity users in Iran has reached more than 21 million, accounting for more than 31% of the country's total electricity consumption.

To meet these electricity demands, Iran has built 25,000 kilometers of distribution network. Before the Islamic Revolution, only 4,367 villages were connected to the national grid. However, with the victory of the Islamic Revolution, electricity access in rural areas has increased by 15 times.

Currently, 57,966 villages are connected to the national grid, accounting for more than 99.7%, and the rest will also be connected to the grid in the next four years. According to Iran's Ministry of Energy, renewable energy currently accounts for nearly 7 percent of the country's total power generation.

Of the total installed capacity of renewable energy in Iran, solar energy accounts for 44%, wind farms account for 40%, and small hydropower plants account for 13%.
