The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) will hold a public review meeting next week on a draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for a solar project of up to 700 MW in Nevada.

The federal agency under the Interior Department said Thursday that it will organize virtual private meetings on March 15 and 16. The events will seek public feedback on the Chuckwalla solar project proposed by EDF Renewable Energy Development.

This draft EIA assesses the construction, operation and maintenance and eventual decommissioning of photovoltaic (PV) parks.

Planned to be installed on a 6,400-acre (2,600-hectare) tribal trust on the Moapa River Indian Reservation in Clark County, the massive complex will include four solar photovoltaic plants and integrated battery storage. The project also envisages the construction of two transmission and generation interconnections.

Each solar park is planned to operate under a power purchase agreement (PPA), the project website said.
