German solar developers Belectric and Ampyr solar Europe (ASE) have agreed to build several large solar parks with a combined capacity of more than 200 MW in Germany over the next two years.
The first two projects, with capacities of 85 MW and 65 MW respectively, will be located in Brandenburg, Belectric said on Wednesday (22 June). the implementation of the 65 MWp project is seen as challenging as it requires the construction of a 25 km (15.53 mile) long line and a substation.
The projects will be developed by ASE, while Belectric will be responsible for the design, procurement and construction (EPC). Construction of the first two solar parks is scheduled to begin at the end of this year.
ThorstenBlanke, CEO of Belectric, said, "Our framework agreement with Ampyr is a good basis for the implementation of further German projects in the future."
About a year ago, AGP Group and Hartree Partners merged NaGa Solar with Ampyr Energy's UK solar joint venture to create ASE. in February, the company secured a €400 million (US$420.83 million) loan from CarVal investors to deploy more than 2 GW of solar in Europe by 2025. The focus is on Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. the 2-GW portfolio is the first step towards ASE's goal of putting 5 GW of solar capacity into Northwest Europe. (1 EUR = 1.052 USD)
